RAW IMAGES TO BE USED IN MY E-WALLPAPER

TUTORIAL ONE : SELECTION

So, in my first tutorial, I was taught by Mdm. Lydia to use selection tools on the Adobe Photoshop. The following are the images which are given to practice the selection tools.

So, first, I used the zoom tool (Z), to zoom in to the tomato for easier handling.

Now, I select it using the Quick Selection Tool, I personally just double click on the red part of the tomato and it'll automatically select the whole tomato.

Now, I zoom out of the tomato by first pressing Z, then while holding Alt, I tap on my right click. After that, I use the Move Tool (V) and drag the tomato onto the cutting board.

Now that the tomato is done, I move on to the olives. First, in order to start a new agenda, I need to Deselect by pressing Ctrl D (hotkey). Then I zoom into the bowl of olives and select it using the Elliptical Marquee tool hidden under the Rectangular Marquee tool. Now the fun part, all I need to do is to tap and hold on to the spacebar to move around my selected area and release the spacebar to resize my selection. I got pretty quick with it just after a few tries!

Now, I drag the olives onto the chopping board again using the Move Tool.

Next would be the salads image. Again, I Deselect by pressing Ctrl D, then i use the Elliptical Marquee Tool again to select the salads image. HOWEVER, this time i had to press Shift while selecting as it'll help me to automatically become into the shape of the object, which in this case, is a circle.

Again, I dragged it to the cutting board. Now i need to change the colour of the salads image to it's negative. So, I go to Image ---> Adjustments ---> Invert. OR, just press Ctrl I for a much shorter way. (:

Now, I have to duplicate the salad imagine, and the quickest way to do that is to hold down Alt as I drag the image.

To enlarge the selected image, go to Edit ---> Transform ---> Scale

Now finally that's done. I now move on to the final object on the page, which is the lettuce.
This can be a little tricky. :S
Ok, so first I use the Rectangular Marquee Tool to select an area large enough to cover the entire lettuce. Next, I use the Magic Wand Tool under the Quick Selection Tool (right click on the Quick Selection Tool to choose options). Make sure to select the Subtract button after going into Magic Wand Tool on the options bar. This ensures anything that is selected will be subtracted from the white background that is selected. I then move the lettuce onto the cutting board again.

And that's the end =)

*Tip for users using laptops, it is essential that you plug in a mouse as without the mouse, a lot of hotkey functions cannot be used.
